"The ministry of a priest is to represent Christ and his Church, particularly as pastor to the people; to share with the bishop in the overseeing of the Church; to proclaim the Gospel; to administer the sacraments; and to bless and declare pardon in the name of God."
- BCP Catechism
The Rev. Joshua P. B. Tracey serves as lead pastor, priest, and teacher of Redeemer as of May 2023.
Originally from a small town in Western New York, Josh graduated with a degree in Social Work from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2017 and received his Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in 2020 with a Certificate in Christian Spirituality. He was ordained to the diaconate and priesthood that same year. He was trained as a Spiritual Director through Anam Cara Ministries.
Before seminary, Josh served in several youth ministry roles through diocesan retreat programs and at various summer camps, including his continued connection with Cross Roads Camp and Retreat Center.
Josh is passionate about sharing the extraordinary Good News of Jesus Christ with ordinary folk in our ordinary lives. Josh loves Jesus, but he thinks it's much more interesting that Jesus loves Josh.
Fr. Josh loves playing dodgeball, exercising, being outside, Marvel movies, photography, and hanging out with his orange cat, Pecan. He is married to the Rev. Kevin M. B. Tracey, Pastor at St. Mark Lutheran Church (Clifton Heights) and Josh thinks that’s just the coolest thing.
You can call him “Father Josh” or “Josh”.
